A new breed of Yoga Retreat launches in Ibiza for 2020

A new breed of yoga retreat, Mojo Rising, will be launching in Ibiza for 2020. Housed in a beautiful and eccentric artist’s house amidst the beautiful pine clad hills in the north of the Island. the first 6-night retreat takes place from May 4, 2020. After that retreats will run monthly through to October 2020.

Mojo Rising is the brainchild of music promoter Monty Gammond, who discovered yoga as the perfect exercise antidote to running and football. After experiencing yoga retreats across the world, Monty felt there was a gap in the market for a really accessible retreat that would particularly encourage men to attend as well as women and attract people of all ages.

Monty explains, “I felt the balance between men and women at yoga retreats needed to be redressed. Mojo Rising is a really accessible retreat with an open approach in a magical setting, welcoming for all demographics and genders. Sociable and carefree, our retreats are about having fun and interaction as well as top class yoga and delicious healthy food. We bring a fresh, free-spirited approach to the traditional yoga retreat, allowing for like-minded people to come together, be recharged and inspired.”

The focus at Mojo Rising is on the whole experience. The vibe is laid-back with community at its heart.

Mojo Rising will offer yoga and meditation classes designed to help you deepen your practice in stunning surroundings on a spacious yoga deck overlooking the sea. The retreat will run two yoga classes a day – one in the morning and one before dinner. Each morning class consists of a dynamic practice based on a mix of Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Hatha yoga. Classes are designed to suit everyone, from complete beginners through to advanced yogis. Evening classes will be a guided Pranayama meditation or Restorative yoga practice allowing for complete mental and physical recharge.

Guests are encouraged to socialise with each other and there is plenty of time between yoga sessions to explore the Island and its hidden beaches. There will be optional excursions including day trips to nearby Formentera on solar panelled catamarans and spa treatments and massages can be arranged on requests. In the evening guests are encouraged to hang out with each other and listen to live music.

The Soul Kitchen is at the heart of the Mojo Rising experience. Retreat chef Mayla, from Conscious Food Ibiza, creates delicious vegetarian and vegan friendly dishes and fresh juices that promote a healthy lifestyle. Produce is always organic wherever possible, and sustainably sourced directly through Ibicenco Farmers and local markets on the island. Expect creative, colourful dishes with expertly blended fresh juices to aid detox and further fuel your cells, served up in a relaxed, sociable environment.

The spacious retreat is housed in a beautiful, unique villa belonging to a Spanish artist. The villa is perched on a cliff near Sant Miquel de Balansat with beautiful views over the sea and surrounding countryside. Full of character and filled with antique treasures, cultural influences thread throughout – from Saharan doors to Burmese statues, there are unusual touches at every turn. Rooms are all doubles with ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning, high quality linen sheets. and a selection of organic natural shower gels, shampoos and conditioners and handmade local soaps.

Prices £1975 pp for single occupancy and £1575 pp two people sharing a room. Price includes transfers to and from Ibiza airport, all yoga and meditation classes, all meals and snacks.
