Internationally renowned photographer Isabel Muñoz to exhibit artwork at Menorca Art Hotel Can Alberti 1740 as part of new group show in Mahon.
28th June – 8th July 2024

May, 2024.- Can Albertí 1740 Boutique Hotel is pleased to announce its first exhibition of the year, in collaboration with the prestigious Casa de Velázquez, a French institution based in Madrid that stands out for its commitment to promoting collaboration and artistic, cultural and academic exchanges on an international and bilateral scale. From June 28th to July 8th, the hotel will host an exhibition featuring works by renowned artists, including international photographer Isabel Muñoz, and two artists-in-residence at Casa de Velázquez: Nicolás Combarro and Regina Quesada.
The exhibition opens on June 28th. On the same day, a conference dedicated to Casa de Velázquez will see its director, Nancy Berthier, giving a presentation about the institution and its work in the archaeological field. Additionally, Claude Bussac, director of artistic studies, will present the history of the Casa, highlighting its role as an international artistic residence. She introduce the two resident artists along with Isabel Muñoz, who will be discussing her work.
Artists and their pieces

The renowned photographer Isabel Muñoz displays her creative genius in an intimate dialogue with the past in the exhibition Murmurs of the Stones, where, in collaboration with resident artists Nicolás Combarro and Regina Quesada, she promises to immerse the public in a unique emotional and visual journey. The exhibition invites you to listen to the echoes and murmurs that are hidden in the stones and whose voices cross time to reach us. Isabel Muñoz, laureate of the National Photography Award, member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando and godmother of the current class of artists of the Casa de Velázquez, has focused her research on Göbekli Tepe, a Turkish archaeological site where the oldest known place of worship to date was discovered. The selection of photographic works he will present in the exhibition invites us to transgress the dualism between past and present, between matter and spirit, to break the linearity of temporality and discourse.
On this occasion, he is accompanied by two artists currently in residence at Casa de Velázquez, who also work on the connections between art and archaeology. In the pieces presented, Nicolás Combarro uses visual art to reveal the subway spaces of the cities of Rome and Naples. With her drawings, Regina Quesada proposes a personal graphic and theoretical discourse to investigate the cyclical connection of human beings with the earth and the stones.

This exhibition aims to highlight the origins and objectives of this outstanding French institution, founded in Madrid in 1920. Since its foundation, Casa de Velázquez has stood out for its commitment to promoting dialogue between France and Spain.
This collaboration between Can Albertí 1740 Boutique Hotel and Casa de Velázquez reflects the mutual commitment of both institutions to the promotion of culture and art. The exhibition offers the opportunity to immerse oneself in the creative world of talented artists and will provide a unique insight into the fundamental role of Casa de Velázquez in today’s contemporary cultural landscape.
