Can Alberti 1740 Boutique Hotel, the much-loved 18th-century townhouse hotel in the historic heart of Mahon, will reopen for the 2026 season on 27 March 2026, unveiling an expanded programme of cultural events, a new portfolio of guest experiences and the rare distinction of receiving a Michelin Key for the second consecutive year.
With just 14 individually designed rooms, Can Alberti has become something of an institution on Menorca, known for its elegant interiors, warm hospitality and deep-rooted commitment to arts and culture. Housed in a salmon-pink townhouse built in 1740, the hotel offers a refined yet relaxed base from which to experience the island’s creative life, history and natural beauty.
Awarded for excellence in guest experience, attention to detail and atmosphere, the Michelin Key places Can Alberti among a small number of hotels internationally to be recognised two years in a row, reinforcing its reputation as one of Menorca’s most distinctive boutique stays.
New for 2026: Can Alberti Experiences
For the 2026 season, the hotel launches two new Can Alberti Experiences – carefully curated programmes designed to immerse guests in Menorca’s heritage, landscape and creative culture.
Menorca Talayótica: UNESCO Archaeology Insider Experience
A bespoke cultural itinerary exploring Menorca’s extraordinary Talayotic heritage, created in collaboration with the archaeologist, Margarita Orfila Pons, who helped secure the island’s UNESCO World Heritage status.
Margarita Orfila Pons says, “Menorca is an open-air museum, given its more than 1,500 archaeological sites. It is not surprising that in 2023 UNESCO declared ’Talayotic Menorca” a World Heritage Site. This culture spans from the 2nd millennium BC, the Bronze Age, to the Roman period, 123 BC. With a marked insular character, several of its assets are of Outstanding Universal Value. Of particular note are the burial sites (navetas or caves), the conical towers (talayots), its walls, its circular habitats, and the sanctuaries (Taula enclosures).”
